Around the Eateries with a Low Budget

While standing at the gateway to a brightly lit restaurant, the aroma of the food might be driving you bananas, making you crave for it, savor it, gift some novelty to your palate but suddenly your eyes meet the price, giving you a chill down your spine and then you’ve to clutch your nose violently and sheepishly leave, while your castle of dreams shatter forever. Such is the anguish inflicted by exorbitantly priced restaurants in Delhi! However, Delhi isn’t so lacking in choices after all. There are umpteen number of eateries around the city that provide some really good quality and sufficient quantity of food within the limits of budget. Here are a few to try out and spice up your life.

  1. Phirangi

Location: Kamla Nagar

Apart from providing a very cozy ambience, Phirangi also puts on the table some very lip-smacking food to enjoy with friends and family. Bestowing Continental, Italian and Fast food, it never fails to remain within the budget. Famous for Honey Chilli Potato, Drums of Heaven, Hakka Noodles and Mojitoes, it is definitely an eatery worth trying.

  1. The Kathi’s

The Kathi’s truly knows how to keep their customers happy. A small, open air joint, which is quite famous for its Nine-Inch Kashmiri Kathi, Double Chicken Kathi and Chicken Roomali Roti. In vegetarian variety, they are known for their Paneer Roll and Paneer Tikka Kathi roll variety. So, all in all, in just flat Rs. 200 (or in fact less), you can devour a full meal contentedly!

Want to relish true authentic Kolkata rolls, right amidst the hustle-bustle of Delhi? Then don’t think twice and head straight to 34, Chowringhee Lane. Situated right in the middle of South Campus, the rolls are a huge hit amongst campus students who simply can’t seem to get enough of the Chicken Roll, Mutton Keema Roll, Paneer Roll, Vegetable Roll, Farm Fresh Egg Roll and Aloo Roll. A meal of kebab and an appetizer can be relished well under Rs. 200. Don’t think twice before going!

This place is quite popular among the students because of the reasonably priced, lip-smacking food. The ambience is welcoming and comforting as the restaurant is beautifully done with paintings and fancy lights. The burgers, nachos, shakes, the cheesy french fries can melt your heart within seconds.

  1. Ananda Bhawan

A pure vegetarian restaurant down the road from Evergreen, they nail their gol gappas and deserve a special shout out for their pav bhaji. Also, since it is a South Indian joint, they retail traditional South Indian spices and masalas, because who doesn’t love to shop while they eat.

  1. Wenger’s Deli

Enduring cafe serving a range of sweet patisserie and international snack dishes for over 75 years! If you love to indulge into the sea of pastries and all kinds of bakery items without bittering your budget and mood, then you must hop into Wenger’s Deli. After all, your stomach must have a break from the Indian savouries.

  1. Kent’s Fast Food

Location: 29, Defence Colony Market

If shakes, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, fries and ice-cream sundaes make you happy, Kent’s café is the eatery to land at. A happy place blanketed by an aroma of delicious food, this one will make your heart sing and dance.

8. Aam Aadmi Pakwaan

As the name suggests, this food joint is meant for the aad aadmi (high on hunger, low on budget). A vegetarian restaurant, this eatery puts some really yummy north and south dishes on the plate to devour and rejoice. The ambience with light music only heightens the bliss of the moment.

A great restaurant offering some real treat for the palate under very reasonable price. Smashing vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries to eat while you devour the holy process of food being cooked through the open kitchen.

If you are a ‘paranthaa’ lover who craves to put some soft, hot, yummy and buttery paranthaas without burning his/her pocket, then nothing can serve you better than Kake di Hatti which often is branded as the king of paranthaas, leaving behind even Paranthe wali gali. That’s some great review, isn’t? Dress up, put some bucks into your pocket and march on to have some paranthaas with some delicious curries. Happy eating!
