Delhi University may consider an aptitude test for students from boards other than CBSE

in Admission Corner/DU Admissions Corner by

Delhi University is contemplating on conducting an aptitude test for students who aren’t from the CBSE board for admission to UG degree. The University admission committee believes that this will address the marks disparity caused by the marks moderation policy followed by many state boards.

CBSE had decided to do away with the marks moderation policy last year which resulted in an outcry from students. CBSE had also requested MHRD to direct state boards to the same while releasing the class 12 board exam results. Despite this, not all states agreed to do so.

Delhi University has conducted entrance examinations for a few colleges so far. Although, conducting the entrance examination for over 3 lakh students would be a difficult task. According to TOI reports, the committee believes that the Univerity lacks the infrastructure and manpower to conduct such a test. A sub-committee on this issue will finalize their plans in the next meeting and send the recommendations to the University.
