A persistent doubt in the minds of a common person is that what is the purpose of a MUN? The purpose of a MUN is twofold; firstly, it empowers young minds to engage in diplomacy in order to draw solutions and long-term remedies to ongoing problems worldwide. Secondly, it serves as a forum for delegates to interact and communicate formally.

The Model United Nation (MUN) society of Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) is all set to host the much-anticipated LSR Model United Nations Conference on the 16th and 17th of February 2018. The two-day conference shall view the participation of esteemed dignitaries from the UN and delegates from various college.

The 2018 edition of LSRMUN shall witness delegates from varied colleges and universities fiercely negotiating, refuting and handing resolutions. The external committee this year is the Brexit Negotiation Board, which will be discussing the proceedings that will be followed for Britain’s exit from the European Union. The second committee is the African Union that will be a tri-sectorial committee deliberating upon the African democracy. The third committee is the United Nations Human Rights Council, which will be focusing on the strengthening of education sector with special emphasis on developing nations. The fourth committee is the Special Committee, which will be discussing the sustainable development goals with special emphasis on student commitment.

The conference is in consonance of their quest to acknowledge global issues that have a significant impact on our lives and find plausible solutions for the same. LSRMUN asserts this conference as an agency through which they give back to the community, which has offered us everything.
