College time is for exploring opportunities beyond the curriculum, and learning a new language can be an exciting prospect for many. It not only equips you with global exposure, but also opens up avenues of deploying your knowledge of a new language. It is a great plus point on your CV, and juggling multiple languages is said to have advantages like a sharper memory!

With the globe rapidly getting connected technological development and getting converted into a landscape of cultural diversity, languages continue to be a significant factor. Goes without saying, this is one skill, the relevance of which is here to remain!

The University of Delhi provides a range of courses including Certificate courses, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in languages ranging from French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Persian and Swahili to Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Hungarian and others. Both part time and regular courses are offered but in this this article, considering fresher preferences, we shall focus specifically on part time Certificate Courses.

Note: These are to give you a fair idea of the availability of courses. The exact details are released by respective departments or colleges each year separately. 

Eligibility : Students who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an examination recognized as equivalent to it with an aggregate of at least 45% marks are eligible to apply. Candidates with Graduation, Post-graduate and above are also eligible to apply.

Duration : One year (begins in August and ends in March)

Application process : It’s important to be a student of the University of Delhi for enrolling oneself for part time courses. Students can apply to these courses at the start of the application process for undergraduate admissions every year at Delhi University. Admissions are given on the basis of cut off list.

Expected fees : 10,000 – 20,000 (Varies college to college)
