DU Cut-offs likely to dip, CBSE refuses moderation

Delhi University might not witness sky-scrapping cut-offs anymore, as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to do away with the moderations for Class 12th Boards. Coming in a day before University of Delhi (DU) commences its online applications, the move shall keep a check on the inflated scores leading to the high-cut offs.

A few days back, DU varsity had refused requests by the CBSE to give appropriate weightage to its students.

Estimates suggest that nearly 80% of applicants are from CBSE. The sky-rocketing cut-off implies students from ICSE or other State Boards do not find a seat in the university. Last year, Shri Ram College of Commerce witnessed an unprecedented 75-80% admissions from Tamil Nadu and Kerala State Board board respectively.

2,000 Seats to be added

The executive council has announced the addition of 2000 seats, implying the number of available seats to 56,000.

B.Sc (H) Computer Science shall be started in six colleges, including Miranda House and Delhi College of Commerce and Arts among others.

B.Sc (H) Mathematics shall be started at Ram Lal Anand College, Swami Shraddhanand College and Shyam Lal College.

No waiting for refunds before changing colleges
