Samarth Theatre Group in collaboration with Chhanv Foundation and Stop Acid Attack announces its theatre production; ‘Tagore’s Women’. Rabindranath Tagore wrote these stories close to eighty years ago. Their relevance in the present society is what propels the plot of the play. Tagore’s Women, addresses women’s issues in our society and is a wake up call for their liberation.
Stop Acid Attacks (SAA) is an organisation that is actively working against acid violence in the society. Immediate medical, psychological and financial support is required by acid attack surviors. The judicial process to acquire this kind of support is a tediously slow one, and more often than not leaves the survivour yearning for help. But justice and support are essential to survivors of any kind of criminal activity. The loopholes in our judicial system that make help and justice to acid attack survivors a far fetched dream, is what the organisation is working towards doing away with. It is actively putting efforts to provide survivors with immediate medical, psychological and financial support. Theorganisation believes in standing firm with the families of the survivors and helps them with legal aid.
Chhanv Foundation is a rare meeting place for these survivours, where they gather and share their joys and sorrows to make life wholesome. It organises workshops, counselling, and many other programs to facilitate and support the survivours. This helps boost their self confidence and make them self reliant so they can work on the path of success. The attempt of this foundation is to bring about social awareness and sensitivity.
With this vision in mind, Samarth Theatre Group has attempted a play towards improving the condition of women in the society. You are cordially invited to help us further in our venture towards social change and cover our event.
