Kirori Mal College established in 1954, is one of the constituent college of the University of Delhi, located in the North Campus of DU. Kirori Mal College began as Nirmala College, started by American Jesuits in the wake of partition. It was located on Qutub Road. Faced with intractable problems relating to the staff in the period following the partition, the management of the college changed hands, and the college shifted to its present campus on 1 February 1954.The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in February 2004.
It has been graded ‘A+’ by NAAC.

HANGOUT SPOTS: Boy, are you in for a treat! The best part is that the back-gate of the college opens directly into the Kamla Nagar market! Shop your heart out, or chill all day long at the cheap food joints. The canteen lawn, popularly called ‘Sare-Aam’ is the best place to hangout with the new friends you make in your first year. The library lawn is the hub of all events, including the college department fests. Also, how can I forget to mention- the lawn of all lawns- the Ashoka Lawn?! It’s the perfect place to sit and relax after a tireful long day of lectures.
EATING JOINTS: OMG. You will be spoilt for choice! Chache Di Hatti- It has consistently been placed among the top chhole bhature joints of Delhi. There’s Shawarma Wala and Chowringhee, famous for their parantha rolls. The Hostel Canteen, popularly called ‘KHoCa’ (Kirori Mal Hostel Canteen) deserves a special mention. This small shop serves chai, omelette and maggi to students all day long.
FAMOUS FOR: KMC’s theatre society, ‘The Players’ is considered one of the best for every budding actor out there. The staff advisor to this society and Associate Professor of English, Mr. Keval Arora is a legend himself! Also, what Kirorians love boasting of time and again is the illustrious alumni- Vijay Krishna Acharya (director of Dhoom 3), Kabir Khan (director of Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Ali Abbas Zafar (director of Sultan)- you get the drift! Bollywood is full of KMCians. And the Shahenshah himself- Amitabh Bachchan figures among the reasons why students choose KMC over other colleges!
