In a star-studded affair of Femina Miss India 2016 held at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, Delhi girl Priyadarshini Chatterjee was crowned the winner. She is the third consecutive woman from Delhi(and University of Delhi!) to have won the pageant. Chatterjee beat 20 other finalists who were selected for the finals of the 53rd edition of Miss India. The first and second runners-up of the competition were Sushruthi Krishna and Pankhuri Gidwani respectively. Priyadarshini was crowned winner by last year Femina Miss India Aditi Arya.
The final question that was asked to the contestants was- What are the qualities needed in Miss India and why do you deserve to win today? Her prize-winning answer to the question posed was “Miss India should be true to herself, she should have a personality to refelect who she is. My personality reflects that and that’s why I should be the next Miss India.” The event saw the coming together of mega stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, Kabir Khan, Ekta Kapoor, Varun Dhwan, Sania Mirza, Manish Malhotra, Yami Gautam, Shane Peacock Amy Jackson and Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna. There were also many scintillating dance performances by Bollywood stars which included Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Salman Khan and singing performances by Sunidhi Chauhan and Badshah.
Priyadarshini hails from Hindu College as a student of Sociology. Her hometown is Guwahati, Assam and she has completed her secondary education from Maria’s Public School. She will now go on to represent India at Miss World pageant.
We congratulate her on her tremendous win and wish her the very best for the future.
