DU Student honoured with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award 2015



University of Delhi student Himadrish Suwan has been honored on January 17th 2016 at the Constitution Club of India with the  prestigious Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for the year 2015. He is the youngest recipient for this prestigious award and has been selected among the 21 Padma awardees from all over India. The award is to motivate people to achieve excellence in the field of Social Service as well as to achieve the goal of Clean, Green, Healthy & Educated – India.

Union Minister for Mines & Steel , Government of India Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Gen V.K Singh honoured him with the  prestigious Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for the year 2015 for his contribution towards Clean India Movement in lieu of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The event organised by Utthan Samiti was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Celebrities, and Industrialists, 21 Awardees selected from all over India, Eminent Social Workers, Poet, Artist, Writer, Sports Persons, Electronic / Print Media and 1500 Visitors from all over India.

Himadrish Suwan is a well known young Columnist, Citizen Journalist (C.J)  for various reputed dailies and magazines. He was one of the youngest Indian person representing the Indian youth at the Global Opportunity Panel-2015 : Global Opportunity Network , UN Global Compact  as a panelist on the issue of Youth unemployment and youth underemployment. He is also one of the Youngest Recipient of the International Association for Educators for World Peace (Affiliated to UN) Global Award for the year 2014 in the areas of Media & Information Activism.

Himadrish is currently pursuing Political Science Honours from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (DU), IInd Year. He is the Founder of Clean India, Glow India (Mission-E-Safai), an initiative by University of Delhi students for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan appreciated by the Prime Minister of India himself.
