This year’s Delhi University Student Union ( DUSU) elections will see the inclusion of a ‘none of the above’ (NOTA) option in the electronic voting machines (EVMs). The decision comes as a result of the directions of the University Grants Commission ( UGC).
The UGC had sent a circular for the same in 2015 as well. However, since the EVMs had been prepared prior to receiving the communication, the option wasn’t included last year.
After orders received by NGT, the elections this year will also see candidates being allowed to stick only two handwritten posters, instead of hundreds of printed ones, the office of the Chief Electoral officer confirmed, reports The Indian Express.
The Delhi University polls are scheduled to take place on September 9.
