A professor of Delhi University’s Hindu College has accused a colleague of sexual harassment who in turn alleged that he is being targeted by the administration for being a Dalit, reports The New Indian Express.
The woman brought the incident to the college authorities’ notice in a complaint. According to the allegations, the professor harassed her and passed vulgar comments when she had gone to intervene in some “unauthorised work” being done by him.
However, the professor in question claimed that the complaint against him was “fake” and that a conspiracy was being hatched against him by the college administration because he is a Dalit.
In a statement at a press conference, he said, “I am being harassed by the college administration because of my caste. I am being targeted because I have been vocal about the illegitimate appointment of guest lecturers. They want me to be silent and take back my complaints. To pressure me, they have filed a fake case against me.”
As per the report by The New Indian Express, repeated calls and text messages to college principal Anju Srivastava seeking her reaction on the issue went unanswered.
