Two DU students, along with another person allegedly kidnapped a 3-year-old boy for a Rs. 10 lakh ransom. The names of the accused are Rahul Misra(24), a graduate of the Delhi University’s School Of Open Learning (SOL), Gaurav (22), a first-year student, and Shubham Mishra (19).
According to the police, Rahul was fired recently by the boy’s father and the kidnapping was done in revenge. The plan was laid-out inspired from several Hollywood movies. The father, who is the owner of a computer hardware store in East Delhi’s Mandawli area, told the police that Rahul had last taken his son to a juice stall.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Omvir Singh said the police were informed about the incident on December 22. They had formed 16 teams to trace the accused. “The teams had combed through Akshardham, Yamuna Bank and East Vinod Nagar areas. We then got inputs about the culprits’ movements. When we closed in on them, they gave up the child near CWG village,” said Omvir Singh. The accused were subsequently held after they had managed to flee from the spot where the child was rescued.
