In a first for Delhi University colleges, Kalindi College has decided to ban the sale of plastic water bottles inside the campus. Making us all think about our responsibility towards the world we live in, the college seems to have taken a powerful step towards saving the environment.
The college authorities announced this decision during an annual prize distribution ceremony that was held at the college. Senior officials from the University Grants Commission (UGC) were in attendance at the ceremony.
Addressing the matter, college principal Anulya Maurya said, “Every human being has a responsibility towards the environment. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to ban the sale of plastic water bottles in the college starting today.”
“We will discover alternative methods for water storage and consumption. For now we have started using earthern pots. Kalindi is the first DU college to introduce this kind of a ban,” she added.
