After Kalindi College, Miranda House has become the second college of Delhi University (DU) to set up a centre for North East Studies in association with Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD). It was inaugurated on 27th February by Governor of Manipur, Dr Najma A. Heptulla at the college’s North East fest called ‘Leirang’. Heptullah said, “The Centre will create a better research-based understanding of the ethos, challenges and opportunities in the Northeastern states in a culturally sensitive manner.”
Dr Pratibha Jolly, the principal of the college emphasised that as a college with more than 300 women students from the Northeast, the Centre will be a research centre that will look at the Northeast through the prism of various academic disciplines.
The centre will be focusing on research projects through impactful knowledge tools which will affect the policies and development of the North East.
