Ambarsariya fame singer Sona Mohapatra has always been a fierce woman when it comes to voicing her opinion. She criticized coldplay for being “soppy”. She was also amongst the first bollywood celebrity to criticize Salman Khan for his rape comment.

In her recent Facebook post she has slammed IIT-Bombay for being sexist. Sona referred the institute as “cesspool of mediocrity.”

According to her post the organizers of Mood Indigo (Annual fest of IITB) approached her multiple times to perform on their stage. However they gave a similar condition each time- to collaborate and perform with a “male” singer.

However IIT-B has rejected all her claims. As reported by DNA India , IIT-B claimed her fee was beyond their budget so they decided to drop the idea of her performing in the fest.

“IIT-Bombay is the last place where you would encounter sexism. In fact last month we had an event at our management institute where Tulsi Kumar gave a solo performance. Earlier this year, Asha Bhosle, too, had performed inside IIT.”- fest organizers

Sona Mohapatra has been an active campaigner for woman rights. Her performance on woman’s freedom in Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has crossed 5 million views on Youtube.

Her claims are getting a mixed response from the public and after IIT-B’s denial of the charges, this issue doesn’t seem to be getting resolved anytime soon. Here is the full Facebook post by Sona Mohapatra:
